Welcome to the homepage for the Saul Bellow Society of Japan! Established in 1989 as a purely nonprofit academic organization, the SBSJ aims at contributing to research on Saul Bellow and his work and their related
fields and to the promotion of communication among our members. The activities of our society vary, ranging from holding an annual conference
(which includes both business and general meetings) and issuing a newsletter
to publishing research and performing other activities that help us attain
our goal. The qualification for membership is that a person has some interest
in Saul Bellow and his work and pays a modest annual membership fee.
In the field of British and American literature there are two major academic organizations in Japan, the English Literary Society of Japan and the American Literary Society of Japan, and our society is recognized by the latter as one of its "registered bodies."
Our Bulletin Board is available twenty-four hours a day for information exchange. We welcome
your writing on this board, to give new information about Saul Bellow or
simply to ask a question or voice an opinion.
